On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the Book of Life was gently closed when God called our dearly beloved Dorothy Mae (Ashton) Willis from labor to eternal rest.
Dorothy affectionately known as “Dot” was born on April 3, 1957, to the late William “Flip” Ashton and Mary Frances Ashton in Fredericksburg, VA. She began her spiritual journey at an early age joining Siloam Baptist Church in Zacata, VA.
On June 16, 1973, Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Tyler “Boo” Willis of Zacata, VA. To this union two children were born, Bertwain and Tyra. Out of this union, she also gained her bonus son Johnny.
Dorothy was educated in the Westmoreland County School system. She was a graduate of Washington and Lee High School, Class of 1975. Dorothy continued her education at Rappahannock Community College in Warsaw, VA, earning her CNA license in 1983. Dorothy was passionate about caring for others while working in the nursing field for 36 years before retirement. During those years she worked for Warsaw Healthcare Center (Warsaw, VA), Westmoreland Rehabilitation and Healthcare (Colonial Beach, VA), and Heritage Hall (King George, VA).
In addition to caring for others, Dorothy loved cooking for her family, game nights, conversing with friends, and was known for making a fashion statement.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Tyler Willis, parents William and Mary Ashton, and three brothers, William Clayton, Luther Clayton, and Fred Clayton.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories: two sons, Bertwain Willis (Lizeth), and Johnny Adams (Tammy); a daughter, Tyra Willis (Lorenzo); two brothers, Ernest Pearson, Sr. (Hannah), Alonzo Ashton (Vonda); two sisters, Audrey Ashton, and Joyce Turner; two grandsons Malik and Devon; five granddaughters, Alexis, Kamryn, Jazmin, Princess, and Camila; one great-granddaughter Ava; three brothers-in-law, Floyd Willis (Leora), Lloyd Willis (Gwen), Marvin Willis (Linda); two sisters-in-law, Conceda Carey (Charles) and Hazel Chisholm; special friends Yolunda Willis, Sarah Henry, Maxine Smith, Rita Byrd, Betty Thompsonn, and Polly Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
A Home going Service for Dorothy Ashton Willis of Montross, Virginia will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 11AM in the sanctuary of the Siloam Baptist Church, 1614 Zacata Road, Montross, Virginia.
